Hi, and thanks for reading about our site. You've probably noticed
that we don't actually stock all the products we list - most of
our links to other online stores. Why should you buy through us,
rather than going straight to them? After all, they have "What's
Cool" lists, too. Right?
There are a lot of reasons, but the simplest is probably this:
Unlike the big corporate sites where the marketing department
decides what needs to be pushed this week based on inventory or
advertising dollars or kickbacks, we believe in the items we review,
and our editors have voted for these where it counts, by buying
them with their own dollars. If we recommend it, we've bought it
and use it ourselves. For everything you see listed, we've rejected
a number of pieces of competitive junk. It's all stuff we like, and
would appreciate getting ourselves. We do get a small percentage
(usually 5%) of everything you buy through us, which helps pay for
the Internet connection and disk space. Thanks for your help, 'cause
we don't think anyone deserves an uncool gift.
